In instances where computer-assisted Pap testing is unable to make an evaluation, manual screening will be performed. All SurePath™ Imaging Pap tests and all ThinPrep® Imaging System tests will be CPT coded as 88175.
Pap results requiring physician interpretation will be performed at an additional charge (CPT Code(s): 88141; HCPCS: G0124).
Methodology: Liquid Based-Density Gradient Sedimentation
Clinical Significance: Liquid based Pap testing is intended for use in the screening and detection of cervical cancer, pre-cancerous lesions, atypical cells and all other cytologic categories as defined by the Bethesda System for Reporting Results of Cervical Cytology. Pap screening is not reliable for the detection of endometrial cancer.

Supply: C06 SurePath w/ Spatula & Brush
Brush Collection - Insert Cytobrush® Plus GT into the endocervix until only the bottom-most bristles are exposed at the os. Slowly rotate 1/4 to 1/2 turn in one direction. To reduce unnecessary bleeding, do not over-rotate brush.
Drop the detachable head device(s) into the SurePath™ vial.
Spatula Collection - Insert the contoured end of the Pap Perfect® plastic spatula and rotate 360 degrees around the entire exocervix.
Drop the detachable head device(s) into the SurePath™ vial.
Brush and Spatula - Place the cap on the vial and tighten. Send the SurePath™ vial to the lab for processing.
